The Victorian Government’s Climate Change Strategy 2026-30 recognises the central importance of skills and training in delivering the workforce our state needs.

The Victorian TAFE Association welcomes the Government’s partnership with the TAFE Network, where the state’s future clean energy workers will be trained through Free TAFE. Eighty percent of qualifications for future jobs can be achieved through TAFE.

The VTA also acknowledges the key role of Clean Energy Centres at TAFEs in Morwell, Warrnambool and the Asia Pacific Renewable Energy Training Centre in Ballarat, funded through the TAFE Clean Energy Fund.

The following can be attributed to Alex White, CEO of the Victorian TAFE Association:

“Our public TAFEs are central to ensuring Victoria has skilled workers needed to deliver on our state’s climate agenda.

“Whether it is training skilled electricians or plumbers, welders and engineers, or wind turbine technicians, if you want a career in the climate transition then TAFE is the pathway.

“The Climate Strategy will further cement our TAFEs as global leaders in training, through cutting edge Clean Energy Centres across the state.”
