The Victorian TAFE Network has completed a massive mobilisation of over 950 attendees across every TAFE Institute in the state to set a new baseline for LGBTQ+ safety and inclusion.

The training will launch into its second year in 2026, supporting thousands of staff from teaching, student support, operations, and leadership roles. It builds upon ongoing sector‑wide work to advance diversity, wellbeing, and equitable outcomes for learners from all backgrounds.

The initiative, delivered through the Victorian TAFE Association’s partnership with Pride in Diversity, has provided specialised training focused on LGBTQ+ awareness, inclusion, and allyship, supporting best‑practice approaches to supporting students and colleagues.

As Victoria’s largest public provider of vocational education and training, the TAFE sector affirms that every Victorian has the right to feel safe, respected and supported and this initiative demonstrates TAFEs unwavering commitment to creating inclusive environments for all.

“This initiative reflects the core values of public TAFE – equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all. By equipping our staff with high‑quality LGBTQ+ training, we are creating safer spaces for learners and strengthening the culture of respect across the entire TAFE system.”

Quote attributable to Elisabeth Lane (she/her), Senior Relationship Manager, Pride in Diversity:

“We are proud to support the Victorian TAFE Network as it strengthens LGBTQ+ awareness and inclusion across the state. The level of engagement from Institutes and leaders at every level has been outstanding, demonstrating a genuine and shared commitment to meaningful progress.
