VTA CEO Transition

After three years of dedicated service, Victorian TAFE Association (VTA) CEO, Dugald Murray, is moving on to a national role in the VET sector.

During his time at the VTA, Dugald has been instrumental in building the impact and sustainability of the organisation.

His achievements include:

  • Shepherding in a new organisational strategy and values, and securing significant government grants
  • Strengthening relationships with member institutions and building powerful alliances with influential unions and industry peaks
  • Advocating for sector-wide policy and funding reform
  • Leading successful negotiations for new workplace agreements covering TAFE teaching and professional staff
  • Enhancing the profile of TAFE and vocational education.

We thank him for his outstanding contribution and wish him every success in his new chapter.

The Board will undertake a comprehensive search for a new leader. We look forward to sharing the details of this process soon.

Throughout this transition period and beyond, the VTA remains committed to our mission of supporting Victoria’s 12 TAFE institutes, four dual sector universities, and AMES Australia.

We will continue to:

  • Advocate for public vocational education
  • Support members through policy development and sector representation
  • Champion quality, sustainability, and outcomes for industry, community, and learners.

This transition represents an opportunity for continued impact. We are confident that the incoming leadership will build upon the strong foundation and outstanding team established under Dugald’s guidance.

Thank you to our members, partners and stakeholders for your continued support as we enter this next phase together.
