Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and welcomed across Victoria’s public TAFE system. Whether you’re a student, employee, or community member – TAFE should always be a place of safety and empowerment regardless of your gender.
That’s why this #RespectWeek, and for all weeks to come, we’re proud to publicly pledge our commitment to building a safer, more inclusive Vocational and Education and Training (VET) sector that is free from gender-based violence.
More than this pledge, we’re committed to real action to address this important issue.
Our commitments:
On behalf of the Victorian TAFE Association, we commit to:
- Champion gender equity across VET by continuing strong collaboration with WHISE, ITECA and our Members, building on the 2025 Training for Respect pilot.
- Confront and address gender‑based violence through honest reflection, sector‑wide dialogue, and a commitment to meaningful change.
- Drive sector-wide training and awareness to dismantle stigma, discrimination and violence, creating safer, fairer environments for all.
- Uphold social justice as a core lens guiding our advocacy for TAFE employees, learners and communities.
To the exceptional employees across the TAFE sector who ensure campuses across Victoria continue to thrive, and to the learners who come through our doors every day to gain life-changing skills and training – we have your back.
We’re committed to ensuring you can continue to access safe, respectful places to work and train with confidence knowing that our commitment to true gender equity and the elimination of gender-based violence is unwavering.
