The Victorian TAFE Association (VTA) warmly welcomes the appointment of the new Minister for Skills and TAFE, The Hon. Colin Brooks MP, whose background as a trained electrician gives him first‑hand insight into the transformative power of vocational education.
The VTA is committed to working closely with Minister Brooks to build on the significant achievements of the former Minister, Gayle Tierney, who positioned TAFE as critical infrastructure for Victoria’s workforce and economic agenda.
We look forward to working constructively with Minister Brooks to advance a strong, accessible, and high quality public vocational education system that supports learners, industry, and communities across Victoria.
Key priorities for the TAFE Network include addressing Victoria’s enormous future skills demands with an increased $2.5 billion infrastructure investment, and funding for 10,000 additional funded TAFE training places per year.
Victoria requires over 1.4 million new jobs by 2034, 80 percent of which are attainable through TAFE.
