ABOUT

The National Vocational Education Training Research (NVETR) is the substantive VET research program in Australia. The program supports both three year research programs and a regular open category program for research of one-two year’s duration. The majority of NVETR funding is awarded to university research centres and independent consultants (NCVER, 2014).

The NVETR program has funded a number of research studies on practitioner and sector capacity building, including a consortium of research focused on ‘Supporting VET providers in building capability for the future’ (Harris, Clayton, Chappell, 2008) . That research program examined a diverse range of issues including: career pathways for VET provider staff, teaching and learning, organisational cultures and structures, learning through work, human resource development, leadership and workforce development.
