Proposed Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2018
TAFE teachers across Victoria have overwhelmingly voted in support for a new Multi Enterprise Agreement (MEA) for all 12 standalone Victorian TAFE Institutes.
When the ballot closed, over 95% of votes received across the state were in favour of the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2018.
The MEA was recently negotiated by the VTA with employee representatives, the Australian Education Union and the National Tertiary Education Union. Victorian Government support for the negotiations has been vital.
The MEA provides the intent of the sector to commit to genuine reforms in teaching and learning practice, service delivery and flexibility which will ensure the long term sustainability of the public TAFE system in Victoria.
The MEA provides for job security for more staff, simplified and clarified work arrangements and greater flexibility for both employer and employee to readily respond to changing circumstances and community and industry expectations.
The MEA will be presented to the Fair Work Commission in coming days. Once approved, the MEA will provide teachers with salary increases over the next 4 years making Victorian TAFE Teachers the best paid in the country.
